Fall Foliage, Day 25 - Green Lakes State Park to Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain KOA, NY
This morning we started with a short walk/slide down to the lake from our campsite.
After a quick (for us) dump station/water fill stop, we were back on the road!
We made a stop for gas and firewood on the way, and it was really nice to be able to fry up some sausage and veggies in the parking lot. Another reminder that our whole house is basically always with us.
The views once we got into the Adirondacks region were absolutely gorgeous the whole drive - any way you look are mountains packed with fall colors.
When we pulled into the KOA, the ‘parking escort’ was unable to find our reservation, which was slightly concerning since I had just called that morning. In the office, we realized they had spelled my name as “Elisa Jenbo” and got checked in with no further problems.
The campground was packed and noisy, since it was Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Christian and I hadn’t quite realized that the holiday weekend would mean that everyone else would be out as well. We’d gotten used to being the only ones in a camp since for us every weekend is basically a holiday weekend.
At our campsite we struggled a little to get the fire going - our wood was slightly damp. Once we had some embers, we roasted sausages, an apple, and some potatoes. I had a migraine and went to bed early after watching some Avatar episodes.
