Fall Foliage, Day 42 - New York City, New York
THE BIG APPLE.
We were serenaded all night by the sound of rain on the roof :3
Then this morning Christian did a quick fix on dbinbox while I answered emails. We packed up our stuff, picked up the final round of packages for costumes from the front office, and headed out into the rain for New York City.
Both of us have been before when we visited New York with Christian’s family, but this is our first solo trip. We already had tickets for Matilda that we’d bought ahead of time online since we missed it in Dallas (and I loved the book/music I’ve already heard), but the rest of the afternoon was ours to use as we wanted.
We started off (after navigating the traffic to find parking) at Mood. The bathrooms were luxurious by NYC standards, Christian assured me. We wandered around (with me pretending I was on Project Runway) and even found Swatch the mascot.
Then we grabbed lunch - Christian had stirfry fromWok to Walk and I got a “plain slice hot on a plate” from Patzeria’s (that’s cheese pizza, reheated, on a plate for those who don’t know the NY pizza lingo).
We walked through Times Square, fended off some ticket scalpers, and arrived at Central Park… where we spent a few minutes looking for a wifi café before turning back around and going to Argo Tea.
Then we grabbed another slice of pizza (Sacco, recommended by Serious Eats, and much better than the first) for me and a gyro for Christian for dinner before making our way to Shubert Theater to see Matilda.
After the show we briefly did some grocery shopping before heading back to the car ($35 parking D:) and subsequently back to the park.
