Fall Foliage, Day 46 - New York, New York
This morning we packed up to leave Micah’s apartment, then walked a couple of blocks for a cozy brunch at Northern Spy Food Co.
Then we took a taxi to TKTS to get tickets for the Kinky Boots matinee.
We had a little time to kill, so we people-watched in Times Square before going back to the library to see the inside. Christian got a snack on the way:
Once we got to the library, the Rose Room was closed :(, but there was an exhibition about photography that was interesting. Still not a giant room full of books though.
Then it was time to walk back to the theater for Kinky Boots - we LOVED this show! There were lots of impressive costume changes, sharp choreography and scene changes, and we could actually understand what they were saying even with accents. The plot was even pretty strong (aside from the resolution of the Nicola relationship).
Back to TKTS again, this time to get evening tickets for Sylvia, a play with Matthew Broderick about a man who finds a dog in Central Park and how it impacts his life/marriage. The ‘gimmick’ here is that the dog is played by a woman.
For dinner, Christian got a street gyro, then we went for some juice and a smoothie bowl with granola/fresh fruit.
Back to the theater for the play - completely different from Kinky Boots earlier, but still amazing in its own way. I laughed, I cried, I really wanted to get a dog (did you know there are miniature and toy-size Australian shepherds??)
After the show we walked back to the parking garage - yay the car and all our stuff (part 1) was still there!
Then Christian drove us back to the campground - yay the RV and all our stuff (part 2) was still there!
We listened to some of the music from the shows (seeing 3 in one weekend was practically heaven) before bed.
