Fall Foliage, Day 55 - Felton and Milford, Delaware
This morning after some general clean-up and a hair-dye touch-up, we worked outside in the gorgeous fall weather. I also sold the utility cart and extra chair to someone at a campsite near us, so the whole day was basically a success.
We went out to Dolce Bakery and Coffee Shop in Milford for a change of scene. I had a delicious cinnamon roll and a pumpkin spice latte, and Christian had a strawberry granola bar, breakfast cookie, and mint tea. No pictures - we ate everything too fast!
It was great getting work done there (like the last week’s worth of blog posts) because it had such a small-town vibe. The gentleman behind the counter greeted people by names, remembered their usual drinks, asked about how things were going, and even threw in a free cinnamon roll (and high-five) to a little girl who was celebrating a great report card. As we were leaving, he was packing up all the leftover pastries into a bag labelled “Senior Center.”
Then we went grocery shopping as part of Christian’s research into the “meta-diet,” or “the distilled overlap “wisdom of the crowd” of all the popular diets.” So if one food shows up in Paleo, low-carb (Atkins), GAPS, Eat-to-Live, etc., it makes the list to the Meta-Diet.
For dinner, we had shepherd’s pie (with half-cauliflower in the mashed potato topping) while watching Master Chef Junior, which led to a new bucket-list item for me - marshmallow cannon/marshmallow fight.
