Home for the Holidays, Day 21 - Marion, Virginia

I managed to get Alfie to sleep in till 9:30 morning - the hike yesterday must have tired him out. We went for a couple-mile hike across the road, seeing some deer and following a little stream for a ways.

After breakfast for both of us we did a little agility training before he went back to napping and I answered dbinbox emails.

Once Christian was up, I did a little more training with Alfie before packing up the hammock, emptying the tanks, and organizing our exterior storage compartment. We spent most of the afternoon outside working and playing fetch, which turned out to be a good thing since Christian saw a German Shepherd wandering around without a human nearby!

I went over and very carefully approached with treats and spare leash in hand, then once he was more comfortable with me I was able to check his tags and call his owner. A couple minutes later she came to pick him up and Alfie had to say goodbye to his new friend.

I went back to checking out possible places to stay in Austin for SXSWEdu in March while Christian set up the logs for our fire tonight. Once the sun started setting we started the fire and food prep - Christian was in charge of the actual cooking while I cut veggies.

After dinner we relaxed (besides Alfie’s first throw-up) and I started working on our Christmas video before staying up later than was probably wise to read.

Home for the Holidays, Day 22 - Marion, Virginia, to Sevierville, TN We had a pretty typical driving-day morning today (walk/breakfast/reading/training/workout/pack-up), aside from part of the dump hose getting stuck
