Home for the Holidays, Day 29 - Millington, Tennessee
I slept in till 8 today before starting the morning routine. Alfie seems excited to be back in nature with all the exciting smells and sounds - we played fetch outside for a bit with a makeshift long leash from some extra paracord and he had a blast. We also practiced fetching slippers (for which I’m trying to get him to recognize the cue “Accio slippers” instead of “bring slippers”).
Then Christian finished bracing the slats on the sofa pull-out while I tidied and organized a bit interspersed with watching Friends.
We went for a hike in the afternoon on the 3-mile loop trail that starts right outside our front door.
Once we were back, we rested a bit before cooking dinner (veggies and ground beef) and finishing off the fourth season of Friends. Christian’s totally hooked now!
I did a little more training with Alfie, including desensitizing him to the leaving cues. This basically just entails me putting on my shoes and then NOT going outside until he doesn’t react to shoe-putting-on-ing. Eventually I’ll add the next steps (putting on his harness, grabbing the leash, etc.) until he disassociates those actions from me leaving.
